The original Bonfire was a collaboration between Fandango Virtual founder, Carrie Berry and Scottish poet and novelist, Jim Murdoch. Jim posted a poem in Fandango's poetry workshop, Metamorphosis, in November of 1996. The rest is history. Carrie moved to Scotland in 1997 and they were married in December that year, cementing a collaboration that is still going strong after 25 years. Together they created Bonfire in 1998 as a resource for writers of poetry and prose.

They realised that just wanting to write was not enough and valued the help they had received from a variety of resources. Their fire has been kept going by that fuel. They wanted to give something back to the writing community by sharing what they had learned and found that many of their readers also wanted the same. It was online until the middle of 2003 when Virgin Media closed the free ntlworld home pages.

Ever grateful for the fuel contributors have added to this Bonfire, Jim and Carrie have reopened these archives for all to share. This collection has been fine tuned a bit but its simple elegance has kept very well.
