PROMISES TO KEEP(page two) |
CAN’T SEE THE FOREST Carrie Berry I recently had the pleasure of discovering a collection of breathtaking nature photographs on the website of David Coyote, author of Roomful Of Rainbows. I was most pleased when the photographer agreed to let me use two of them as cover art on this issue of the Gazette. In a staff brainstorming session, it didn’t take long for someone to think of "Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening" and for the group to steal one of Robert Frost’s lines for the title. Synchronicity does grow on trees, it seems—the author of our lead story decided to change its title to "Promises To Keep"; we uncovered a stash of poems stored on an old hard drive that could have been written for this issue; and our poet guide, Randall Brown, submitted an essay on the dark side of Frost, just before telling me about the more-traveled path he has chosen to take. This will be Randall’s last issue as poet guide for GSG as he has been offered another editorial position with a popular flash venue. We have enjoyed his touch, but wish him luck in his new role. This issue of the Gazette is fine reading from cover to cover—I hope you will take the time to savor every word. If you enjoy what you are reading, think about sharing it with a friend or spreading the word in whatever ways you can think of. A subscription to the Gazette will make an excellent gift for that discerning reader on your list. © Carrie Berry 2004 The cover photos for this issue were taken by Chicago born author, David Coyote who was exported to California, lived in Hawaii eleven years and eventually explored half the world. Artist, photographer, commercial designer, musician and writer, David is now happily self-employed. on to page 3 back to THE GSG VAULT |
