EXISTENCE IS FUTILE — September 2001GSG Masthead

EVERYTHING IS A GATOR
editorial by Wanda Le Sabre

In Propositional Logic every statement is either true or false - there is no third way. For example, the proposition "I am a brilliant editor" is either true or not true. Furthermore, if a statement is false then its opposite is true. So, if "I am a brilliant editor" is a false statement, then its opposite "I am not a brilliant editor" must be true.

THE FEAR OF AN ANONYMOUS EXISTENCE
by Tonya Judy

Ottilia Kafka—Wednesday, 1910

I am alive. In my own ways and my own means. I am alive. Nothing I say or do now can take away the fact that through all of my trials and tribulations, I live. Amazing.

"Existence precedes essence"

I sit in comfort and discomfort in turns as I watch the simple way life has of plucking itself from my form. I possess a limitless well of knowledge and reckonings but can do nothing to stop the process of self-destruction. The ultimate question is why be given this ability if I can do nothing but eventually lose it. I sip a sea of infinitessence and can do nothing but bloat on its waters and die strangled in my glut.

DINER WITH FRIENDS

FADE IN
INT. THE ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO

MOVING

JAKE and DAISY ANDERSON make their way across the lobby and quickly find the gallery displaying Edward Hopper's "Nighthawks." She's talking a mile a minute, gesturing. He listens with an air of anxiety.

INT. GALLERY

Heedless of the MUSEUM GUARD, Daisy leads Jake up close to the painting. As he blots the rain from her face and hair with his handkerchief, a pan takes in her black oxfords, house-dress, cardigan, her severe institutional hairdo. Jake removes her clip-on name tag, folds his handkerchief, and puts both in his pocket, then steps back a bit to view the painting.

Gator Springs, a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas — where you'll find your muse pitching pennies at the corner of absurdity and the void.

Gator Springs Gazette accepts unusual and wonderful examples of the written word in all forms with an eye towards irony, a mind tilted on its edge and a tongue planted firmly in cheek.

The editors find traditional submission methods dirty and depressing, so we are currently only accepting submissions telepathically. If you really need to get through to us, you will find a way.
