DETACHED The white two story house on a small hill which is its grassy yard more windows than my apartment building with an iron black fence all around. I don't live there! I've never lived there! I'll never live there! I'm not rich enough to live there! I'll never be rich enough to live there! They won't let me live there! I don't dare ask to live there! I can never live there! © Don "Kingfisher" Campbell |
Commentary: I felt a little pain over my station of birth, when compared to the obvious prejudices the wealthy enjoy. I had a friend who was in her forties, who lived at home (she was divorced and didn't work), and I got to see her take for granted things like, shopping for $8.00 sandwiches, getting an exotic bed of dark greens in her salad (was iceberg in her vocabulary?) and being able to retreat upstairs to fax and use her computer. But, I can laugh at it, really. No matter how much money you have, you can't escape problems (but you do have more dinero to throw at them). Don "Kingfisher" Campbell Bonfire contributor |
